FAQ
Q: What makes Egyptian Cotton so special?
A: Egyptian Cotton is renowned for its extra-long fibers, which produce softer, stronger, and more breathable fabric than regular cotton. Grown exclusively in the Nile River Valley, it is considered one of the finest cottons in the world.
Q: Is all “Egyptian Cotton” genuine?
A: Not always. Many brands misuse the term. At Kemet, we only use 100% certified Egyptian Cotton verified by the Cotton Egypt Association using DNA testing to ensure authenticity.

Q: Why should I choose Kemet over other bedding brands?
A: Kemet combines tradition with transparency. We source authentic Egyptian Cotton, partner with certified mills, and ensure every item undergoes strict quality checks. You’re not just buying luxury bedding — you’re investing in lasting comfort and cultural heritage.
Q: Where is Kemet bedding made?
A: All Kemet products are ethically made in Egypt by skilled artisans using certified Egyptian Cotton. We oversee the full process — from farm to fabric — to maintain integrity and quality.
Quality & Certification
Q: Is Kemet bedding certified?
A: Yes! Our products carry the official Egyptian Cotton™ certification, backed by DNA testing through the Cotton Egypt Association. This guarantees that the cotton is 100% authentic and traceable to Egypt.
Q: What does the certification mean for me?
A: It means you’re getting exactly what you paid for — real Egyptian Cotton, with its natural softness, durability, and breathability. No blends, no compromises.
Thread Count & Fabric Feel
Q: What is Thread Count (TC)?
A: Thread count refers to the number of horizontal and vertical threads woven into one square inch of fabric. It’s often used to indicate fabric density and feel.
Q: What’s the difference between TC400 and TC600?
A:
TC400: Softer, breathable, and ideal for hot sleepers or warm climates. It offers a crisp hotel-like feel.
TC600: Denser weave with a smoother, more luxurious drape. It feels silkier and is perfect for those who love a rich, indulgent touch.
Both are made from the same premium Egyptian Cotton — the choice depends on your personal preference.
Care & Longevity
Q: How do I care for my Egyptian Cotton bedding?
A:
Wash in cold or warm water (max 40°C) on a gentle cycle
Use mild detergent, and avoid fabric softeners or bleach
Tumble dry on low or line dry
Iron on low heat if needed
With proper care, Egyptian Cotton becomes even softer over time and can last for years.
Q: Will the fabric shrink or lose softness?
A: Slight shrinkage (3-5%) may occur after the first wash — this is normal for natural cotton. Our fabric is pre-washed to minimize it. As for softness, Egyptian Cotton gets better with every wash!

Sustainability
Q: How is Egyptian Cotton more sustainable?
A: Egyptian Cotton is a natural, biodegradable fiber. It requires less frequent washing, lasts longer than synthetic alternatives, and softens with age — meaning fewer replacements and less waste. Our DNA-certified cotton also supports ethical farming and traceability from seed to sheet.
